[ woman 1 ] [ woman 2 ] Ooorf! Went out for all-you-can-eat sushi again last night. I think I need to stop doing that. Next time, I’ll spend less money and just get a regular amount of the things I like best (those eel-avocado handrolls were good, so were the salmon-ikura ones, and just plain eel nigiri). Cheaper, and I’ll feel better.

My parents got me an air conditioner. The Consumer Reports website has a form you can use to calculate how many BTUs you need — much more detailed than the usual system of just figuring based on room size. I’d been going to go with a 5000 BTU model, but the form recommended around 6000 BTUs, considering that I’m in an attic room. Good thing I checked — the model I got takes a few hours to get my room really comfortable, rather than just bearable. A weaker model might not have been even adequate.

[ woman 3 ] I’d been supposed to get a bigger air conditioner for downstairs, but when I realized that we were radically underestimating our needs, I held off. Today’s assignment is to wander around Sears and BJ’s taking notes on what’s available. [livejournal.com profile] akawil’s room has a 220-volt outlet, so we might be able to get something that’ll keep the whole second floor cool when his door’s open, and let his room double as a meat locker when it’s closed.

The next time you do Yu Ka, try the Sashimi regular or deluxe, perhaps supplemented by one or two things. That cuts out the rice, and, by Stephen Tihor's, Elizabeth Bartley's, and [livejournal.com profile] mnemex's report, the size of the pieces are humongous, and they were quite satisfied.
