[ building and traffic light ] Here are some quick sketches I knocked off while doing the laundry a couple of weeks back. I’m going to miss the moldings in this part of Brooklyn.

[ two women ] A couple of women on the subway home from comics and NYRSF today. The one on the right had very odd hair, with a sort of tendril running down the side of her face.

Comics today: Powers #26, Mek #2, and the third and last issue of Marc Hempel’s Naked Brain. A new issue of Colonia was also out, but I’ve decided to just get Colonia in TPBs. I may make the same move with Powers soon. Oh, and two more bags of bags, for baggin’ and boxin’.

I’ve been a bit ambivalent about this whole moving thing. I’ve been living on my own for three years, and kinda gotten used to being able to strut about naked and stay up till 4 AM watching TV and web-browsing. And the old apartment is really really warm, which the new one isn’t.

But now I’m actually eager to get going. This nighthawk hermit lifestyle isn’t good for me, and I’m starting to see my regrets as the dark whisperings of bad habits afraid they‘re going to get flushed from my psyche. Living with [livejournal.com profile] ladymondegreen will force me to be way more social, which will be good for me. And this is an opportunity to start over fresh in a new space, with fewer possessions, less clutter. And broadband net access.

So, stuff that needs to get moved for me to consider my ass well and truly uprooted and replanted, and will require the use of a car or similar vehicle:

  • Bed (mattress and boxspring, no frame, some number of sheets, pillows, blankets)
  • Drawing table (needs to get excavated first, that should probably be my highest priority)
  • The thingie I keep my art materials in
  • Computer and assorted peripherals (the laptop itself is easy, but the rest of it would be a pain to carry over piecemeal)

Stuff that needs to get moved but I could probably carry over by hand if I had to:

  • Art materials (need to be boxed)
  • Easel (it’s already standing in my living room)
  • Clothes (pack a week or two’s worth into duffelbag, which’ll have to live out of till Ikea gets in the rest of the parts of the dresser)
  • CDs (need to be boxed, not difficult)
  • Toiletries (trivial)
  • Alarm clock (trivial)
  • Some games

Stuff that ought to get moved, but isn’t urgent:

  • At least three longboxes full of comics (two already filled, one yet to be so much as assembled)
  • At least a couple more boxes of fiction books (not yet packed)
  • More games
  • Box of random computer stuff (cables, connectors, etc.)
  • Linux box, keyboard, old 15" monitor
  • Vacuum cleaner (my parents insist on my having my own)

What am I forgetting?
