Friday: I showed up at CUGC around 9:30 PM or so. Said my howdies, watched people finishing up a game of Call My Bluff, started to wander around the corner to where the snack machines are, and there’s [livejournal.com profile] akawil doing shooing me away, with a cake box on the table behind him. It took them a few minutes to get the candles inserted and lit. Pretty good cake, though tough to cut with a plastic knife. Chris gave me a box of marzipan fruit and veggies. I’d never seen a marzipan parsnip before.

Saturday: Chris and I voyaged up to have dinner with my family at a steak house in Mamaroneck. Decent food, but not as good as our usual steak house, Ruth’s Chris. We discussed possible names for my sister’s expected baby (of as yet unknown sex), due in August. I suggested “Spongebob”. Chris said that names are supposed to commemorate the dead, and offered “Fourth Amendment”. On the way back to my place, by way of a confusing detour through Chinatown, we passed a neon sign store that didn’t have a neon sign!

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot — Google: "y'know what's kinda fucked up"

11° now, blizzard conditions expected tomorrow. The sooner we get this whole winter thing over with, the happier I’ll be.

In other news, I’ve starting posting to my weblog again.

Well, we’ve found out why it’s so cold in the apartment — the heat’s off! According to our landlord, there’s something (my money’s on a wad of dog hair) clogging the oil input to the furnace, so it keeps shutting down.

This isn’t as bad for me as it is for my roommates. The top floor, where my room is, doesn’t have radiators anyway, so I’ve got an electric-powered heater. And my TiBook.
