Pens, pens, pens!
Sep. 1st, 2003 12:25 amSo I tried a couple other pens:
( Still more sketches )The drawing of Melorne, on the left, was done with a Pilot Precise V5, a black rolling-ball pen. I’ve been using these for writing for I’ve forgotten how many years now, long enough that I’ve forgotten that I used to use them for doodling too. Figures that it’d turn out to be one of my two favorite sketches of her. I blocked it out beforehand with a Dart Copy-Not non-repro blue marker. (Oh, and here’s much more than most people would ever want to know about Pilot Precise pens, via Phil Agre’s Red Rock Eater Digest.)
The other was done with a Triart marker, a Japanese pen I picked up at NY Central a few weeks ago. It’s got three tips — a thin plastic tip, a thick chisel point, and a brush tip. Very dark, but also very soaky. It threatened to soak through the 65-pound sketchpad paper.
