Thing about Level III is, it raises your workload substantially. I'm not talking about muscle-building here so much as aerobic effort. When you start to reach the point that pumping to Level II is putting you into the lower end of your target heart rate zone at best, you will probably find that Level III puts your heartbeat back up to the middle/high end.
Completely agree with you that multiple moves beat monotony. I've added duckwalks recently. Also, I have to admit, I mix in a little running now - 120 paces of pump&run at a time, usually two intervals in a 30 minute session. More than that would be the end of my knees.
